55+ Beginner SUP Lessons

Initial 100 minute lesson. Group size 3-5. Ages 50+ (must be in good health) $140

Skills Practice: A series of 6- 60 minute group sessions to practice skills with supervision. $450 TUESDAYS 10:30 a.m.

It is never too late and you are never too old to take up a new passion and SUP is a sport that can be easily enjoyed with adaptations long into your golden years.

Come join us on the lake and find out why Stand up Paddle boarding is taking the world by storm.

SUP (short for Stand up Paddleboarding) is the absolute best way to get out and enjoy the water this Summer. With very little equipment ( a board, paddle and PDF) you can be ready to take on and explore just about any waterway. Whatever you’re particular interests are..chances are you can use SUP to make it even better..versatility is a big part of the attraction!

Extra bonus…it burns 700 calories an hour and offers a full body workout, all while you’re having fun!! In this 50+ classes, you will learn with your peers and we will also take extra time to stretch things out before and after. Your body and soul will thank you for taking the leap and trying a new thing.

EVERYONE needs a lesson, even if you’ve tried it before. We teach you EVERYTHING you need to know to safely paddle going forward.

Whatever your age, gender or previous water sport experience, you should give it a try. Our small class sizes and fantastic coach will help you get your basic paddle boarding skills, allowing you to be up and paddling in no time. So don’t think you haven’t got the spare time, patience, or have left it too late in life… it’s never too late to learn to paddle board!! Once you’re up and gliding over the water, you will never, ever look back!

Wellness Protocols

2022 WELLNESS POLICIES:

We have updated our policies & procedures to ensure the safety of our staff and clients at the beach. If you are not following protocols, you are putting others at risk and you will not be allowed to participate or continue to participate in any activity or rental and will be asked to immediately leave the area.

All clients must be in good health to participate in a Burlington Beach Rentals activity or rental.
DO NOT COME… if experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste or smell, or cold flu-like symptoms.
DO NOT COME… if you have been in physical contact with anyone in medical quarantine and/or out of the Province in the last 14 days.
If you cannot come because of items 2 or 3, above… please notify us and you can rebook for another date.

Arrival Protocol

Please follow these steps to ensure we are able to protect our staff and clients while providing a great experience.

Waivers must be done online prior to arrival.
You will receive an email confirming our meet up location on the Burlington Beach after booking. This is subject to change if the beach is busy.
Please have your PHOTO ID ready to check into the class.
Life jackets and Paddles will be assigned in the parking area. You will need to carry your own inflatable SUP to the beach area (appx 24 lbs)
Everyone must maintain six feet social distancing while waiting in line to check in for your first class and during the land and water portions of your training.
We reserve the right to ask for temperature scans through the season. If a person’s temperature is above 38 Celsius, they will not be allowed to enter or participate and must leave the area. There will be no refund, but they can rebook for another date.
Please do not bring your valuables to the beach or your lesson. We will have some dry bags for clients to borrow but there is no secure place to put your valuables on the beach.
Clients are not to touch any company equipment that has not been handed to them.
At the end of your class pleasure ensure any garbage is removed from the boats and you take your plastic ziploc with you.
All boards & equipment must be returned back to the parking area at the end of class & our staff will be responsible for de-contaminating all equipment.
Porta Potty Washrooms are available and serviced by the City of Burlington.

Booking FAQ

*Our classes must be pre-booked online or by contacting us via email. Class schedule will begin late June and run twice at week for group classes. You may also book a private lesson by contacting us directly. If you have a minimum of 3 in your group we may be able to schedule other days during the week.

ALL CLASSES RUN LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE.

If you need extra assistance booking, or would like to arrange a private group please email us your request.

WEATHER – Please note our classes cannot take place in inclement conditions such as high winds, thingerstorms or surf. In case we must reschedule your class due to inclement conditions you may choose any future scheduled class.

Have a gift certificate you would like to use? Either call directly or include that in the message. You must get a confirmation from us directly to ensure there is space in the class.

It’s way more fun to get started with the RIGHT basic skills that get you out paddling with ease.

What to Expect

Please arrive AT LEAST 20 min’s before class starts to sign waivers & get geared up at our beach shop before heading down to the water. We encourage everyone to take time to stretch before we start paddling. You will use muscles you may not even know were there before!

CLASSES BEGIN PROMPTLY at stated start time.

*CLASS STRUCTURE:

10 MINUTES – Safety debrief & SUP basics on the beach
40 MINUTES – On the water with instructor. Everything you need to know to have fun & stay safe on the water from paddling technique to fall recovery & much more.
20 MINUTES – Free time to practice new skills
RETURN TO THE BEACH– verbal assessment from our coach, review & group picture.

*LESSONS RUN LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE, we will only cancel classes if there is lightening OR if the waves are unacceptable for beginners. Class structure may be altered if the need arises but all areas will be covered. Classes that cannot take place will be rescheduled. No refunds will be given.

What to Wear

Please dress according to the weather. YOU MAY GET WET. You may wear a bathing suit or other light, easy dry clothing. If it is cool and you own a wet suit, you are welcome to bring them. No footwear is needed on your SUP but you may want to bring water shoes for getting in and out of the shore. We provide all needed safety equipment and YOU MUST WEAR YOUR P.D.F. We encourage you to lather on NON OIL BASED high SPF sunscreen before you hit the water and wear a hat.

Changerooms and bathrooms are all available in the main bathroom building in the park. Bring a change of clothes as a precaution

For many, one class is all you need to get the basics down and start enjoying life on a SUP. Those that need additional lessons or would like to improve their skills may book into an intermediate class.

Our Instructors

We are very happy to welcome back Maria to run our SUP courses once again this season!!

Paddling around in kayak & canoes since she was a child, Maria’s love for the water came at an early age. Happiest when playing in the sparkles and introducing people to the Staycation living concept. She has over 20 years experience leading groups, mentoring and sharing her knowledge on a wide array of subjects. Offering a safe and enjoyable introduction to SUP that is sure to include tons of laughter. Each of our staff including Maria has their EMERGENCY FIRST AID & CPR training, boat license and are proficient swimmers. Maria also has her STANDARD FIRST AID & CPR training, PADDLE CANADA SUP instructor certification.

Beginner to Intermediate lessons.

Maria has the best teaching style we have seen and we guarantee that you will love your lesson. She makes everyone comfortable and ensures that each person in the group gets the attention they deserve. Last year’s students raved about our SUP classes and we can’t wait to help teach even more people about this amazing sport.

Ania – SUP & SUP YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Ania absolutely loves being on the water and sharing her passion for Stand up Paddling. She is a patient and experienced instructor that will help you reach your own personal goals on the water. Ania has her PADDLE CANADA SUP instructor certification, SUPYOGA CERTIFICATION and EMERGENCY FIRST AID & CPR. You can find her leading our Beach, SUP Yoga & Learn to SUP programs.

Picture Packages

PICTURE PACKAGES – You may now purchase pictures of your fantastic Summer adventure!! Our instructor will take pictures and video of your lessons on the lake and you can take them home to show all your friends. A great way to preserve priceless moments. This package MUST be booked before class starts. We routinely take pictures of all our lessons but those pictures will only be shared to our social media as time allows.

$35 per person or $50 per couple gets your at least 10 high resolution non watermarked digital images sent to your email for printing or sharing.

Sound Bath Meditation Experience on the Beach Sound Bath meditations are suitable for all levels. Settle in on the sand as our talented instructor takes you on a journey. We will settle in and stretch out with some easy yoga poses designed to relax and release. Soon after we will ask to lay down on your matts, close your eyes and be present in all other senses. A variety of instruments will be used to tell a story as you allow your mind to engage yet rest. A must try experience for anyone.

We encourage you to bring blanket and pillows to get extra comfy as you close your eyes and tune into the sounds of Nature and our melodies.

Join our SUPYoga tribe!

SUP Yoga is taking the fitness world by storm!! What is SUPYoga? Essentially yoga on a stand up paddle board in the water! Since the SUP board is large enough to act as a mat (and sturdy enough to support someone standing on it) it was only a matter of time before yogis started to discover the ways it challenged their practice. Super fun & very effective in building core strength!

Afraid of the water? Can’t swim? We have you covered! In Burlington we are lucky enough to have a gradual shallow, sand entry. Boards are set up before you arrive and anchored in place in appx. 3 feet of water. Worst case if you fall off..just stand up and hop back on!

SUP Yoga is a must try activity in your Summer of awesome!

Booking FAQ

ALL CLASSES RUN LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE. There are no credits given for missed classes unless WE MUST RESCHEDULE. Series will run until we finish the required number of classes.

In case of inclement weather, or fewer than needed participants we will send out a cancellation notice as soon as possible. Please check our FB feed or your email! We will reconvene on the next scheduled date until all classes have been completed. Please note we do need a minimum number of participants to run the classes.

*Have a gift certificate you would like to use? Either call directly or include that in the message. You must get a confirmation from us directly to ensure there is space in the class.

What to Expect

First class? Please arrive AT LEAST 15 min’s before class starts to find us, get check in and help get your SUP into position. We will be meeting at a designated spot in the parking lot or beach weekly. Please do not be late.

CLASSES BEGIN PROMPTLY at stated start time.

Is it Sunny? Apply sunscreen before we begin!

Is it Sunset? Consider bringing repellent in case of mosquitos.

Changerooms, Bathrooms and a Concession stand are located close by. Please leave all valuables at home.

Arrival Protocol

Please follow these steps to ensure we are able to protect our staff and clients while providing a great experience.

Waivers must be done online prior to arrival.
Everyone must maintain six feet social distancing while waiting in line to check in for your first class and during the land and water portions of your training.
We reserve the right to ask for temperature scans through the season. If a person’s temperature is above 38 Celsius, they will not be allowed to enter or participate and must leave the area. There will be no refund, but they can rebook for another date.
Burlington Beach Rentals staff will leave your equipment on the ground in a desingated area for pick up or hand something to you as needed.each person their equipment for the activity. Clients are not to touch any company equipment that has not been handed to them.
Land portion of the training will be already set up for you and appropriately spaced. Please keep your social distance throughout the class.
When departing and coming back from your lesson on the water, remember to keep distance and wait your turn to go out and in.
At the end of your class pleasure ensure any garbage is removed from the boats and you take your plastic ziploc with you.
All boats & equipment must be returned back to the Sanitation area at the end of class & our staff will be responsible for de-contaminating all equipment.
Porta Potty Washrooms are available and serviced by the City of Burlington.

Picture Packages

PICTURE PACKAGES – You may now purchase pictures of your practice on the beach. A great way to preserve priceless moments by yourself or with a friend. This package MUST be booked before class starts. We routinely take pictures of all our classes but those pictures will only be shared to our social media as time allows.

$35 per person or $50 per couple gets your at least 10 high resolution non watermarked digital images sent to your email for printing or sharing.

Full Moon Summer Social & Glow Paddle.

After a few years hiatus, our awesome VIP Full Moon Social Beach Party & GLOW Paddle under the stars is back !! You may join with paddle boards or kayaks.

In celebration of the Summer season and life in general . A perfect way to hang out with your peers, enjoy a romantic DATE NIGHT, make new friends and enjoy an absolutely magical experience on the lake.
MUST DO SUMMER BUCKET LIST item!
On set evenings, we meet on the beach just as the sun is starting to wane. Comfortable beach wedges & lanterns wait for guests to arrive and settle in. After the initial meet & greet we get geared up for some fun and easy BEACH GAMES. These vary but are easy and simple enough that everyone can participate and have fun. Simple & fun prizes are included for the winners.
Soon after, its time for a VIP concert experience with some LIVE & unplugged melodies (or other cool entertainment) to permeate the air with the help of one or 2 talented local musicians! (schedule posted closer to event) Guests are encouraged to sing along and even bring their own instruments as some evenings evolve in awesome jam nights!
When the sun finally sets, its time to get on the water!! ( For those that reserved rentals or have own equipment) Everyone gets geared up with GLOW GEAR and proper safety equipment & then it’s time to paddle out into the lake with all our glowy wonder.

The paddle is GUIDED. If you book iSUP rental then we will have them ready to go.

The full moon provides a good amount of light and it’s an absolutely MAGICAL Summer experience. You may paddle, sit and socialise in the water or a little of both.

What to Expect

Please reserve your spot in our popular guided paddles in advance as group size is limited. Arrive AT LEAST 20 min’s before the paddle is scheduled to sign waivers & get geared up before we begin.

Paddles BEGIN PROMPTLY at stated start time. Anyone arriving after we have left the shore WILL NOT be able to join us. No refunds or credits will be given.

All participants must follow all instructions from staff for a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone in the group. If you have any concerns please speak to one of our staff before we leave from shore.

All guided paddles vary due to conditions, theme and instructor. Some paddles do finish after dark.

*Our guided paddles RUN LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE. We we will make a call for weather or inclement conditions up to 3 hours before the start time. If water or weather conditions prevent us from offering the experience, we will offer a reschedule or you may join one of the future scheduled events. What to Wear

Please dress according to the weather. YOU MAY GET WET. You may wear a bathing suit or other light, easy dry clothing. For evening paddles, we suggest bringing a long sleeve layer for comfort.

We provide all needed safety equipment and YOU MUST WEAR YOUR P.D.F. We encourage you to lather on NON OIL BASED high SPF sunscreen before you hit the water and wear a hat.

Change rooms, bathrooms and a concession are all available in the main bathroom building in the park. Bring a change of clothes as a precaution.

Our staff photographer or instructor will take pictures and video of you or your group throughout the day so you can take them home to show all your friends!! 6 Edited and Corrected images

$40 per person or $85 per group gets your at least 6 high resolution non watermarked digital images. Photos will be available for pick up within 5 days. We can also mail the USB for an additional cost.

Women on the Water combines guided paddling, waterfront exploration and confidence-building experiences into one of Burlington’s most unique summer series.

Designed for beginner and recreational paddlers alike, the focus is on connection, consistency and meaningful evenings on the water — not competition or intensity.

Designed with real summer schedules in mind, participants are not expected to attend every session to enjoy the experience.

Women on the Water is designed to maintain a welcoming, connected atmosphere while still creating enough group energy for meaningful shared experiences.

Arrival Protocol

Please follow these steps to ensure we are able to protect our staff and clients while providing a great experience.

Waivers must be done online prior to arrival.
Meet in Designated spot in the Burlington Beach parking lot to check in and grab your gear for class. We will walk a short distance to the lake itself,
Everyone must maintain six feet social distancing while waiting in line to check in for your first class and during the land and water portions of your training.
We reserve the right to ask for temperature scans through the season. If a person’s temperature is above 38 Celsius, they will not be allowed to enter or participate and must leave the area. There will be no refund, but they can rebook for another date.
Burlington Beach Rentals staff will leave your equipment on the ground in a desingated area for pick up or hand something to you as needed.each person their equipment for the activity. Clients are not to touch any company equipment that has not been handed to them.
Land portion of the training will be already set up for you and appropriately spaced. Please keep your social distance throughout the class.
All boats & equipment must be returned back to the Sanitation area at the end of class & our staff will be responsible for de-contaminating all equipment.
Porta Potty Washrooms are available and serviced by the City of Burlington.

CLASSES RUN LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE. There are no credits given for missed classes unless WE MUST RESCHEDULE.

In case of inclement weather, or fewer than needed participants we will send out a cancellation notice as soon as possible. Please check our FB feed or your email!

*Have a gift certificate you would like to use? Either call directly or include that in the message. You must get a confirmation from us directly to ensure there is space in the class.

What to Expect

First class? Please arrive AT LEAST 15 min’s before class starts and leave time to find parking.

Is it Sunny? Apply sunscreen before we begin!

Is it Sunset? Consider bringing repellent in case of mosquitos.

ARRIVAL protocol

Please follow these steps to ensure we are able to protect our staff and clients while providing a great experience.

Waivers must be done online prior to arrival. Once annually. Found on menu.
Meet us at the designated spot on the beach for the experience close to the pumphouse.. We will have a beach flag errected to mark the spot closer to the end of the paved parking area. You can park and get onto the beach to more easily find us.
We will check you in with PHOTO ID on your first class and for each special event.

Thank you for your cooperation… following these guidelines… insures our activities are safe for everyone!

Booking FAQ

All experiences must be booked in advance. Please RESERVE your choice of experiences online.

We RUN LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE. There are no credits or refunds given for missed classes. Each class has an INCLEMENT condition date, please take note of it when you book. If you absolutely can’t make the rain date, we will extend your pass to other yoga events that are on schedule to run. Please check our social media pages for current information on the day of and up to 2 hours prior to the event.

No credits will be given unless WE MUST RESCHEDULE.

Classes are appropriate for ages 11+. All participants must sign waivers prior to participating in any class. Children must be accompanied by their parents.

Have a gift certificate you would like to use? Either call directly or include that in the message. You must get a confirmation from us directly to ensure there is space in the class.

What to Expect

Please arrive AT LEAST 15 min’s before class starts to get checked in and find your spot on the sand. We are no longer operating from the Pump House and will instead meet you at a designated spot on the beach. Please allow time to find parking.

We encourage everyone to take time to stretch before we start as beach yoga may use muscles you haven’t felt before :)

CLASSES BEGIN PROMPTLY at stated start time. We will do our best to see that the classes are not disrupted but we are outside in a public space. Please do not bring children to class that are unattended. We cannot watch them for you.

Our Special Yoga Classes are suitable for all levels . The instructors will ensure there are variations given for beginners if needed. The beach may be dark by the time we finish depending on the month . Please bring your cell or a flashlight.

What to Wear

Please dress according to the weather. We suggest bringing several layers so you can take things off as you warm up.
Regular gym or yoga attire. No foot wear is needed.

We hold classes on the beach which can be hard on yoga mats. Don’t bring your best mat or bring a towel to put underneath it.

Change rooms and bathrooms are all available in the main bathroom building in the park.

Beginner Group Lesson Available on select dates throughout the season. Tell me your preferred date, and I’ll confirm the next available session. A minimum of four participants is required to run. Perfect if you’re joining on your own or looking for a more affordable way to learn.

Arrival Protocol

Please follow these steps to ensure we are able to protect our staff and clients while providing a great experience.

Waivers must be done online prior to arrival.
You will receive an email confirming our meet up location on the Burlington Beach after booking. This is subject to change if the beach is busy.
Please have your PHOTO ID ready to check into the class.
Life jackets and Paddles will be assigned in the parking area. You will need to carry your own inflatable SUP to the beach area (appx 24 lbs)
Please do not bring your valuables to the beach or your lesson. We will have some dry bags for clients to borrow but there is no secure place to put your valuables on the beach.
All boards & equipment must be returned back to the parking area at the end of class & our staff will be responsible for de-contaminating all equipment.
Porta Potty Washrooms are available and serviced by the City of Burlington.

What to Expect

CLASSES BEGIN PROMPTLY at stated start time.

*CLASS STRUCTURE:

10 MINUTES – Safety debrief & SUP basics on the beach
40 MINUTES – On the water with instructor. Everything you need to know to have fun & stay safe on the water from paddling technique to fall recovery & much more.
20 MINUTES – Free time to practice new skills
RETURN TO THE BEACH– verbal assessment from our coach, review & group picture.

What to Wear

Changerooms and bathrooms are all available in the main bathroom building in the park. Bring a change of clothes as a precaution

Our Instructors

We are very happy to welcome back Maria to run our SUP courses once again this season!!

Paddling around in kayak & canoes since she was a child, Maria’s love for the water came at an early age. Happiest when playing in the sparkles and introducing people to the Staycation living concept. She has over 20 years experience leading groups, mentoring and sharing her knowledge on a wide array of subjects. 13 years teaching clients in Burlington and around the globe. Offering a safe and enjoyable introduction to SUP that is sure to include tons of laughter. Each of our staff including Maria has their EMERGENCY FIRST AID & CPR training, boat license and are proficient swimmers. Maria also has her STANDARD FIRST AID & CPR training, PADDLE CANADA SUP instructor certification.

Please dress according to the weather. YOU MAY GET WET. You may wear a bathing suit or other light, easy dry clothing. For evening paddles, we suggest bringing a long sleeve layer for comfort.

We provide all needed safety equipment and YOU MUST WEAR YOUR P.D.F. We encourage you to lather on NON OIL BASED high SPF sunscreen before you hit the water and wear a hat.

Change rooms, bathrooms and a concession are all available in the main bathroom building in the park. Bring a change of clothes as a precaution.
